Anyone use a Voice recognition software? Vist Voice vs Dragin Naturally Speaking
For those writers out there that get tired of typing after a while or for anyone who likes to chat without typing, do you use a Voice Recognition software? Anyone who has Vista on their computer already has Vista Voice and all you need is a headset with a microphone. I just recently got my headset for my Vista Voice but am thinking of getting the Dragon Naturally Speaking software because I heard it works much better. Does anyone use Vista Voice for writing or chatting or do you use the Dragon Naturally Speaking software instead? If so which do you like better?I am having a hard time getting used to the Vista Voice. It works with wordpad pretty well but I am used to writing with MS works word processor because it has a word count. But when I tried to use the vista voice with the MS works word processor you have to say one sentence at a time until a box pops up and you have to click on the sentence you want to use. I don't like having to do that because it takes longer. I am trying to get used to using the wordpad but I like knowing how many words I am writing while I write them. I guess what I could do is talk the story or article out...

Does anyone use voice recognition software, because struggle with a keyboard?
I get back pain pretty bad and using the keyboard for long periods, makes arms and shoulders ache. Someone recommended that I try out voice recognition software like Dragon Naturally Speaking. If anyone out there uses it on a regular basis, I'd love to hear how you're finding it. For those than don't know, voice recognition software works via speaking into a headset which is in connected to your computer, and it types what you say.
voice recognition software
I am writing this post using voice recognition software. It is my first try with it and it is is making some mistakes but it is sure a lot quicker than typing. The program I am using shareware and I have a thirty day free trial. I've only been using it for about ten minutes and I am already hooked. If anyone is interested I will post the URL that I used to download it. As I said in a shareware and I have a thirty day free trial. is only cost ten dollars to register so it is definitely affordable. WOW, this is kind of fun

iPad v/s Netbook comparison by me, which one do you prefer?
Note: I originally wrote this post for an article submission site, but it was declined saying it had readability errors. Do tell me your preference. The iPad is the latest product from Apple, which is said to be the best experience for Web, Mail and Photos ever!Though the iPad is said to be a bridge between smart phones and Laptops, it competes with net-books, that recently came into limelight. Now what might confuse a consumer is whether he should choose a netbook, or an iPad?To start the comparison, we first take a netbook that matches the iPad's price range, and one such netbook is the Asus Eee PC 1201N, which is priced around 500$, similar to the iPad. The very first positive feature of the iPad is that it is a product from Apple. Apple designs it's products keeping consumers in mind, so even a 5 year old kid can get the most out of Apple products as they are not only easy to use, but beautiful too.The Exterior ComparisonThe iPad definitely wins in this. The iPad boasts an awesome design, slim and light body, and aluminium finish to make it all better. But the Asus 1210N doesn't halt back in this section too, as it has a glossy exterior finishing,...
What is Voice Recognition?
What is Voice Recognition? These optimal conditions usually means the test subjects have 1) matching speaker characteristics with the training data, 2) proper speaker adaptation, and 3) clean environment (e.g. office space). (This explains why some users, especially accented, might actually find that the recognition rate could be perceptually much lower than the expected 98% to 99%).Other, limited vocabulary, systems requiring no training can recognize a small number of words (for instance, the ten digits) from most speakers. Such systems are popular for routing incoming phone calls to their destinations in large organizations.Voice recognition is the process by which a computer (or other type of machine) identifies spoken words. Basically, it means talking to your computer, AND having it correctly recognize what you are saying. The performance of a voice recognition systems is usually specified in terms of accuracy and speed. Accuracy is measured with the word error rate, whereas speed is measure with the real time factor. Most voice recognition users would tend to agree that dictation machines can achieve very high performance in controlled conditions. voice recognition
I gotta admit after playing with Voice Recognition in Windows Vista that it IS awesome. Unlike the current Mac OS X(Tiger), which limits the voice commands to just a few of "speakable items", it does execute real voice commands, and basically what you see on your screen, as long as you can pronounce them, can be used in Voice Recognition. Say if I want to draft a letter in Note Pad, all I have to do is say "start note pad", and my computer will do the job. I can also edit the content of that letter by saying simple commands into my microphone. It doesn't work perfectly of course, but for anyone who wants to just have a taste of the near future, it's definitely a decent toy.Any idea when Mac could do the same?
